An introduction to the roofing trade: what roofers do on steep-slope, low-slope, and re-roof work, the main roof systems and materials, tools and equipment, reading roof plans and the IRC/IBC basics, fall protection and the other hazards of the trade, and the licenses, certifications, and career path.

The second roofing course, for installers, foremen, and the contractors who hire them: low-slope membrane substrates, attachment, and seams; steep-slope sequence, layout, nailing, and metal panels; flashing at penetrations, curbs, walls, and edges; drainage and tapered insulation; wind uplift standards and manufacturer warranties; and leak diagnosis, inspection, and the site-specific fall-protection plan.
